Independent Web
When I read Designing with Web Standards by Jeffrey Zeldman it felt life-altering. It totally changed my view on web development. (As I believe it has done for many developers.)
I got back to work fired up with ideas of how we could create better software using semantic html. And we did.
15 years later I’m still passionate about creating great accessible software for the web. But I’m surprised I still have to convince other developers that we have to use semantic html.
In Nothing Fails Like Success Zeldman talks about the complicated relationship between money and tech on the web.
And asks the question if IndieWeb can save us?
I ❤️ the movement, and hope to use Micro.blog for a very long time.
And hopefully piece by piece we can create the parts needed to never hear words like “let’s just put up a Facebook page” again.
